A press conference for this year’s upcoming Brunei December Festival 2019 was held this morning at the Setia Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and was headed by Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Primary Resources and Tourism and Secretary of the Brunei Tourism Board.
2019 marks the 3rd consecutive year that the Brunei Tourism Board, with the collaboration of several stakeholders, is organizing the Brunei December Festival. There will be over 40 events at this year’s festival to attract locals and tourists of all ages. “It is hoped that our signature Brunei December Festival will be able to stimulate the growth of domestic tourism as well for international visitors to choose Brunei as one of their preferred holiday destinations,” said Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali.
The Brunei December Festival is also organized to coincide with the annual Brunei Salebration to encourage local residents to spend in the country which will spur the domestic economy and increase business opportunities for SMEs.
Representatives from the Department of Mosque Affairs and the Ministry of Religious Affairs also briefed the media on other activities that will be held during the Brunei December Festival 2019. Representatives from Royal Brunei Airlines, the Association of Travel Agents Brunei and the President of Brunei Association of Hotels also briefed their attractive offers in support of the Brunei December Festival 2019.
In attendance at the press conference were members of the Legislative Council Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Sabtu, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Rahim and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari. Also in attendance were Penghulu, Heads of Villages members of the media and event organizers.
Brunei December Festival 2018 attracted more than 173,000 visitors both locally and internationally, with a total of 60 events held throughout the four districts.
