Rafie Balim, Game On’s recent PS4 FIFA 19 champion, this morning left Brunei to Kuala Lumpur for the ES Football Asia Championship. Accompanying him were Game On Business Management Services founder Amar Agus Din and Fathul.
The championship will take place on 27-28 April 2019 at Sunway Pyramid, Kuala Lumpur. Rafie Balim will be representing Brunei in the Championship, competing against players from 13 other countries: Japan, Maldives, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
So how does Rafie feel about competing abroad? “I’m quite nervous about competing. I think I got very lucky to get this far,” Rafie explained, “But I will definitely try my best”.
With the increasing support that esports is gaining from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, gamers may have more opportunities to compete on an intertnational level. “I encourage everyone to try. Regardless what the game is, if there’s a tournament go for it!” Rafie stated when asked about what advice to give other local gamers in regards to competing.
